300V 500A Hydrogen Electrolysis Rectifier

A 300V 500A, 150 kW air-cooled rectifier for hydrogen electrolysis stacks with a six-fan cabinet and local control screen.

150 kW DC Power for Hydrogen Electrolysis Stacks

This 300V 500A hydrogen electrolysis rectifier provides a 150 kW DC output envelope for electrolyzer stacks requiring higher series voltage. The vertical cabinet uses six-fan air cooling and a 4.3-inch local control screen.

The rating does not define hydrogen output, efficiency, purity or compatibility with a particular electrolyzer. Final selection starts from the stack polarization curve, cell count, permitted current density, operating range and site power conditions.

How to Interpret the 300V 500A Rating

The 300V rating is suited to a stack direction where the sum of cell voltages and connection losses can be substantially higher than a single low-voltage electrolyzer. Use the maximum loaded stack voltage at the highest planned current, including busbar, cable and contact losses.

The 500A rating defines the available current envelope. Hydrogen production is related to charge passed through the cells, but practical output also depends on current efficiency, stack design, operating temperature and the system control strategy. Those values must come from the electrolyzer supplier or verified operating data.

Stack and Operating Data for Selection

Provide the electrolysis route—such as alkaline, PEM or another specified system—together with the number of cells, electrical series/parallel arrangement and polarization curve. Include normal, minimum and maximum operating current and voltage rather than one nominal point.

Also state start-up, ramp, shutdown and standby requirements, plus the longest continuous operating period and the permitted response to a stack alarm. Renewable-energy coupling, rapid load changes, allowable ripple, grounding, isolation monitoring and communications are system-level requirements and should be defined rather than assumed from the product title.

Air-Cooled Cabinet Installation

A 150 kW air-cooled cabinet rejects significant heat into the equipment area. Confirm ambient temperature, intake air quality, exhaust route, free clearance and whether corrosive or humid gas can reach the cabinet. The six-fan arrangement needs unobstructed service access and a planned filter-maintenance schedule where dust is present.

Check floor loading, doorway access, cable entry, DC conductor routing and the distance to the electrolyzer. The W650 × D900 × H1660 mm reference size and 350 kg weight should be included in the equipment layout.

Customization

Output rating, 380V/415V AC input, cabinet arrangement, controls, ramp sequence and system interfaces can be configured from the stack data. Any ripple target, protocol, interlock or dynamic response requirement should include its measurement point and acceptance condition.

Information Needed for a Quotation

  • Electrolyzer type, manufacturer and stack polarization curve
  • Cell count and electrical series/parallel arrangement
  • Minimum, normal and maximum loaded voltage and current
  • Operating duty, start-up, ramp, standby and shutdown sequence
  • Allowable ripple, grounding, isolation and protection requirements
  • Available AC supply, ambient conditions and required interfaces

Frequently Asked Questions

Can hydrogen production be calculated from 500A alone?

Only a theoretical direction can be estimated. A practical figure requires the stack design, current efficiency, operating conditions and the electrolyzer supplier’s data.

Is this rectifier automatically suitable for PEM and alkaline stacks?

No single title proves compatibility. The required voltage window, current range, ripple, dynamics, isolation and control sequence must be matched to the selected stack.

Why is maximum loaded voltage important?

Stack voltage changes with current, temperature and cell condition. The selected rating must cover the highest real loaded point plus the defined connection losses.
