24V 500A Aluminum Anodizing Rectifier

24V 500A adjustable aluminum anodizing rectifier for production tanks, with air cooling and optional remote or PLC control.

The 24V 500A Aluminum Anodizing Rectifier provides 12 kW of adjustable DC output for conventional aluminum anodizing tanks and compact production lines. The current capacity suits moderate workpiece area, while the 24V range gives the operator enough control to follow changes in loaded bath voltage during the anodizing cycle.

What the rectifier contributes to aluminum anodizing

During anodizing, the aluminum workpiece is connected as the anode and an oxide layer grows under controlled electrical conditions. Stable current or voltage adjustment helps maintain a repeatable operating window as oxide resistance changes. When the rectifier is correctly matched to the tank, it can support more consistent film formation, surface appearance and batch-to-batch operation.

Film thickness and finish are also influenced by alloy, electrolyte concentration, temperature, agitation, rack contacts, current density and process time. For this reason, the power supply should be selected together with the anodizing recipe rather than from voltage and current alone.

Is 24V 500A suitable for your tank?

Current is normally estimated from the total immersed aluminum area and the current density required by the process. As a simple comparison, a conventional sulfuric anodizing condition near 1.3 A/dm² would use approximately 500A for about 385 dm² of active area. This is an initial calculation only; the actual alloy, bath, contact losses, maximum rack load and process specification must still be considered.

Voltage should cover the highest loaded tank voltage throughout the cycle. Conventional sulfuric anodizing often operates in a lower-voltage range, so a 24V unit can provide useful adjustment margin. Hard anodizing may require a different voltage, cooling capacity and programmed rise, while micro-arc oxidation uses a separate high-voltage pulse power supply.

Common output choices

Example rating Application direction
12V 300A Small tanks, light rack loads or pilot production
18V 500A Moderate current with a lower loaded-voltage requirement
24V 500A Moderate production area with a wider voltage adjustment range
24V 1000A Larger rack area or increased production capacity

Useful control and customization options

Timer control, ampere-hour control, current ramping, remote adjustment, recipe storage, alarm output and PLC or RS485 communication can be included when they suit the production line. Output ratings from 1–1000V and 1–100,000A can be customized, together with cooling, cabinet size, terminal direction and operator interface.
