The 60V 500A hard anodizing DC power supply is intended for aluminum hard-coat anodizing projects that need controlled current and sufficient voltage headroom as the oxide film develops. Hard anodizing must be distinguished from conventional anodizing and plasma electrolytic oxidation before the power supply is selected.
Published Rating
| Rated DC output | 60 V, 500 A |
|---|---|
| Primary application | Aluminum hard anodizing |
| AC input for quotation | Specify 380 V or 415 V AC and local frequency. Final configuration requires project confirmation. |
| Main regulation mode | Constant-current or constant-voltage main mode, selected for the process. Final control configuration requires confirmation. |
| Cooling and enclosure | Selected from duty cycle, ambient temperature, installation environment and available cooling conditions. |
Application Fit
Anodizing current is estimated from I = J × A, using the effective anodized area and the current density specified by the process. As the oxide layer grows, electrical resistance increases and the required voltage may rise. A correct selection therefore checks both the starting condition and the maximum voltage required near the end of the cycle.
The 60 V rating provides a defined output ceiling; it does not establish the process recipe. Alloy, electrolyte, bath temperature, target film thickness, current-density schedule and cooling capacity all influence the actual curve.
Data Required for Selection
- Confirm hard anodizing, conventional anodizing or plasma electrolytic oxidation.
- Provide aluminum alloy, effective area per load, target film thickness and cycle time.
- Provide required current density, starting voltage, expected maximum voltage and any approved ramp profile.
- State electrolyte, bath temperature range and cooling arrangement.
- Provide daily duty, local AC supply and required operator interface.
Configuration Boundary
This page confirms the published DC rating and application only. Cooling method, enclosure grade, control interface, ramp profile, timer, ampere-hour control, pulse operation, polarity reversal, communication protocol and any special ripple limit are optional project items only when confirmed in writing. They are not included by default.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does voltage rise during hard anodizing?
The growing oxide film increases electrical resistance. The power supply must have enough voltage capability to maintain the required process current within the approved recipe.
Can the power supply be sized from part area alone?
Area determines the current calculation only after the process current density is known. Maximum voltage, alloy, bath conditions and duty also matter.
Does this page claim compliance with a military specification?
No. Compliance depends on the complete production process, inspection plan and customer specification, not the rectifier rating alone.
See the complete anodizing rectifier range, or send the process data for a rectifier selection review.
